TEMPORARY FENCING – ENGINEERED BRACING SYSTEMS
At 0508TempFence, we’ve been at the forefront of the temporary fencing industry for more than 25 years. As a company, we are continually innovating to enhance the safety and security of our customers. Over the years, the use of shade cloth and printed scrim on temporary fences has increased, leading to additional requirements for support bracing and engineering. When applied to a fence, these coverings create a “sail” effect that can cause the fence to topple over even in a mild breeze.
To address this, 0508TempFence has developed various bracing configurations tailored to the density and porosity of the shade cloth applied. These configurations are pre-engineered to give our customers confidence that they are using the safest solution possible.
We offer engineered solutions to withstand the following wind speeds and shade cloth densities:
• 54km/hr or 15m/s Windspeed for both 70% and 100% block out scrim/shade
• 86km/hr or 24m/s windspeed for both 70% and 100% block out scrim/shade
• 128km/hr or 35.5m/s windspeed for 70% block out scrim/shade
To achieve these engineering specs, we deploy our Support Stay and Hook Stay bracing or in most cases a combination of both.
SUPPORT STAYS
Support Stays, also known as F-Braces due to their shape, are the most common form of support bracing for temporary fencing. These stays are positioned where two fence panels connect and are clamped at both the top and bottom. Typically, they require three concrete feet, but depending on site conditions, can accommodate up to five for added stability.

HOOK STAYS
Hook Stays are less commonly used and are generally paired with Support Stays. On their own, Support Stays can act as a pivot point, which may cause the fence to collapse in severe weather. To counter this, we developed the Hook Stay, which attaches to the base of the fence panel to prevent lifting. Like Support Stays, Hook Stays can be fitted with up to five concrete feet, but they are usually installed with three.
